Shankar Ji Ki Aarti

Lord Shiva is the Great God of Glory and is believed to be the god who saves one from grief, uncertainty and sufferings. The famous Shankar Ji ki aarti praises Lord Shiv as one who is the Supreme Being and worshipped by everyone. Lord Shiva who represents the Holy Trinity is considered to be the manifestations of Lord Brahma, Lord Vishnu and Lord Shiva.








Shankar Ji ki aarti is performed by lighting lamp and incense sticks in front of Lord Shiva’s idol. It is said that if one performs Shankar Bhagwan ki aarti with pure dedication and devotion, he or she is blessed with immense of benefits that make his or her life calm and contended. Furthermore, it is the best way to attain strength and will power in life too.

Om jai Shiv Omkara, Om jai Shiv Omkara,


Bramha, Vishnu, Sdashiva, ardhanghidhara ||

Glory to you O Lord Shiva, Glory to you O Lord Shiva! May you who represent Lord Brahma, Lord Vishnu and Lord Shiva help me get rid of my sufferings and miseries.


Ekanana, chaturanna, panchanaraje,


hansanan, gharurasna, vrishvahan saje ||

O Lord Shiv, you represent the Holy Trinity as one-faced Brahma, four-faced Vishnu, and five-faced Shiva that your sight of being all of them beholds anyone. Moreover, you are also seen riding majestically on the swan, regally on Garuda and royally on the bull, which adorn you anytime. Glory to you O Lord Shiva.


Do bhuj char chaturbhuj, das bhujatisohe,


teenorupanirakhta, trivubanjaanmohe ||

As Lord Brahma, you possess two arms, as Lord Vishnu four and as Lord Shiva (Dashabaahu) ten, all of which look matchlessly lovely. Your appearance with these triple aspects make every living thing quite enchanting in three worlds of ‘pritvi’, ‘swarg’ and ‘pathal’ O Lord Omkara, Glory to you.


Akshamala vanamala, rudramala dhari,


Chandan mirgamaad sohe, bhole shubhkari ||

O Lord Shiva, you are known to be wearing a garland of rudraksha, a garland of beautiful flowers seen the forest and a garland of skulls. The sandal paste smeared on your body make you look glistening O Bolenath, who adorns the crescent moon on your head. Glory to you O Lord Shiva.


Shwetambar, pitambar, bhagambarange,


sankadik, bhramhadik, bhootadiksanghee ||

Attired in white and yellow clothes and tiger skin, O Mahadev, you are worshipped by and seen with all gods, hobgoblins, sages and seers; O Lord Shiva, glory to you.


Kar Men Madhya Kamandalu Chakra Trishooldharta,


Jagkarta Dukhaharta, Jag Palankarta ||

O Lord Bolenath, you hold the oblong water pot (kamandalu) in one hand and the trident (trishul) in the other, with which you bless us for happiness and joy and destroy all evils and hardship and observes and protects the universe. Glory to you O Lord Shiva.

Pranvakshar Ke Madhye, Yah Tinon Eka ||
